Madrid has 4 main bus stations from which different companies provide bus services around the city. When you are leaving Madrid from one of these bus stations, it is recommended to buy your ticket in advance.
Madrid bus main stations
Méndez Alvaro (estación del sur)
This is the main bus station of Madrid. If you cannot find a destination at the other stations, it will probably be covered by this one. The station is located in the south of the capital. It s just 10 minutes from the Atocha train station.
Avenida de America
The Avenida de America station is located in the north-east of Madrid. It has a direct connection to the train station and provides several long-distant bus services.
Destinations: Barcelona, Bilbao, San Sebastian, Santander, Vitoria, Burgos
Principe Pio
In the south-west part of the city you will find the Principe Pio station. This bus station has the best connection to Segovia since the train schedules have changed.
Moncloa
This bus station is mainly focused on local services and el escorial . The station is located in the west of Madrid.
