For public transport in Madrid the subway is the ideal solution, it is cheap and takes you everywhere you want to go, there are metro stations every five minutes walking.

There are a couple of cons when you travel by Madrid metro. For example pickpockets, or purse-snatchers, they are always looking for victims in subways.

If you have a handicap it s rather difficult for you to get to every station from street level. Sometimes the subway stations have elevators but this is rare. Almost every station can be reached by stairs only. So when you re in a wheelchair it s better to prepare yourself, or use the bus.

Madrid metro Prices

A single trip on a Madrid metro cost you only €1- just like on the bus. If you spend 2 or more days in Madrid, a weekend for example, it is wise to purchase a 10-trip "MetroBus" ticket for €6.40

Finding your way around the Madrid metro system is not hard. The best way to do it; is make sure you get a metro map at the first station. From there on the signs lead the way.
