The capital of Spain has great dining restaurants; with an extensive Spanish cuisine and a network of International food restaurant. A lot of Madrid restaurants are located along the Cava Baja. The Spanish kitchen is famous for its meat dishes.

Though it must be said that you should prepare for something slightly different then you are probably used to. Spanish people are not picky and eat their meat the way it is. They don´t clean the meat for fat or tendens.

Taberna del Puerto de Fernan Gonzalez

One of the Madrid restaurants that is specialised in Andalusian dishes, which are mainly seafood courses. With the meals they serve delicious white wine from Andalusia. The restaurant is on the first floor, there is a bar on the ground floor. Closed on Sunday evening!

Café Oliver
c/ Almirante, 12.
This Madrid restaurant is famous for its variety in the menu, serving the best of the French, Spanish, Italian and Moroccan cuisine. With that, they serve over 200 wines from France and Spain. There is also a bar downstairs to go for a great home-made cocktail.

Sulú
Passeo de Castellana, 172.
Sulú is very popular among local people. They mainly serve Philippine food, which includes fish, meat and rice. Recommended is the teppanyaki; a table grill is placed on your able and the food is being cooked in front of you.

Pan de Lujo
Jorge Juan, 20.
This restaurant is located in the Salamanca district of Madrid. It is built in a former bakery, but the place has been redesigned with a modern touch. The menu offers a variety of small dishes with seasonal ingredients.
